Do You Use Your 5 Senses In Your Daily Communications with Others?

Are you using your 5 senses in your communications with others? If not, you should be.

Let me draw your attention to something that we use every day…

What? What do we use? These five senses!

·         Sight

·         Hearing

·         Taste

·         Smell

·         Touch

Have I gone off the deep end? Bear with me, OK…

Yes, I can see the disapproval on their faces…

Yes, I can hear them laughing behind my back…

Yes, I can taste the hatred in their words…

Yes, I can smell fear in his body language…

Yes, I can still feel the touch of my child caressing my face…

All these senses are also part of how we perceive a person’s delivery, which can make you laugh or feel sad, as…

The world is not against you or for you! Truly not! We individuals are our own worst enemy. How, you ask?

Because we seemingly do not understand how our senses work, our triggers, our action/reaction response, or our habits. To top it off, our social environment and culture also affects us. We need to understand how all these factors come together in order to communicate our message succinctly and eloquently!

It is not the person we were talking to that is at fault… it is ourselves—in not fully tuning in with all our senses. Scary thought, huh?
